We strive to make every dental experience a positive one however there are moments when a little extra help is needed. The Positive Experience Dentistry, or PED as we refer to it, is a new non-narcotic sedation technique. This system was developed out of a profound desire to help the anxious dental patient.
The procedure entails taking a couple of non-narcotic supplement tablets that contain amino acids that are naturally found in common foods such as green tea and turkey.
We will also attach CES (Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation) which is similar to a tins unit that produces stimulation at an extremely low level. The pads are placed behind the ears and you are given a headphone set that plays NeuroAcoustic Music similar to what has been referred to as “elevator music.” And finally we place darkening or “black out” glasses similar to sunglasses on you for the duration of the appointment.
Most patients report a significant reduction in anxiety and feel well rested rather than exhausted after the procedure. In fact they are perfectly able to drive immediately after their dental procedure, unless combined with other sedation methods which restrict patient driving.
The level of safety is far above intravenous or non-intravenous conscious sedation and can be used with most patients. However, it is important for patients to provide information regarding current medical conditions and medications so that our doctors may evaluate and qualify you for the program.
NuCalm® is the all-natural way to experience a relaxing dental visit. NuCalm® is a patented all-natural stress intervention technology. NuCalm® scientifically sequences four relaxation therapies to mimic your body’s own process for ‘winding down’ and preparing for sleep. You will feel the same way you feel just as you are about to fall asleep. Read our new patient introduction to NuCalm® here.
How does NuCalm® work?
Step 1: Chew dietary supplements containing all‐natural ingredients that interrupt stress. The dietary supplements will not counteract or interfere with any medications or dietary restrictions.
Step 2: Patches are applied behind each ear for microcurrent stimulation. Research shows this helps to facilitate relaxation.
Step 3: Wear headphones and listen to soothing music. Layered in the music is proprietary neuroacoustic software designed to facilitate deep relaxation.
Step 4: Wear NuCalm® light-blocking eye mask to remove visual stimuli and maintain relaxation.
