Dental Health: Oral Cancer Screening
We are one of the few offices in San Antonio that provides annual Velscope cancer screenings. Our hygienists are trained in using this new diagnostic tool which utilizes fluorescence visualization technology to identify cancerous and precancerous lesions. Early detection is the key to saving lives. The exam takes only one to two minutes and is completely painless! Under the fluorescent light abnormalities and/or tissue changes appear dark which alerts us for further diagnostic evaluation.
One person dies every hour from oral cancer but with early detection utilizing the Velscope the survival rate of cancer goes up from 52% to 80% ! This is an invaluable tool which we are proud to have.
